the concatenation of:
:insecurities.
Our lives have always been an unending conglomeration of insecurities, socially influenced or seldomly from within. "insecurity kills all that is beautiful." 1 out of 3 three teenagers suffer from self consciousness. How often have you assumed that someone else is better than you or maybe even admired the 'you' that existed 3 years ago, this is a rhetorical question because no matter how much we try to deceive ourselves, we all have been there. Insecurities have undoubtedly always played a significant role in how one acquits themself. The first question should be "what am I insecure about?" and once you get an answer to that, let us move on to the more pertinent question; "where is my insecurity emanating from?" to some people the answer might possibly be 'the people' around them or for some, it might just come from their own thoughts. The truth is, irrespective of where your insecurities arise from, they are unpropitious for you, your mind, body or soul.
We live in an epoch where the hustle culture is unfailingly and constantly celebrated and therefore some of our insecurities originate from the four word sentence," am I doing enough?." Whenever we see someone around us, whose lifestyle is the same as ours but their achievements are better, the question of "am I enough" is given birth without travail.
Does someone in your class get better grades than you? does someone dance better than you? is someone a better orator than you? is someone more beautiful than you?. You just might notice how the last question broke the monotony. The first three questions included more of what could be fixed with practice and hard work but the last one seemed otherwise. Being beautiful, in the conventional sense means having the perfect body, fair and flawless skin and the list ends where infinity ends; nowhere. You must've at least once thought to yourself, "only if I was fairer, slimmer, had that one piece of clothing, watch or shoe, my life would be perfect", but I promise you it wouldn't ;life can never be perfect.
Insecurities are unpropitious. In order to eradicate your insecurities, you must set your priorities. Do you think looking fairer or slimmer promises a successful career to you? do you really think, not having that expensive object makes your self worth insignificant?. Setting priorities is extremely paramount. You must know what matters and affects you before letting insecurities dominate you. Make sure to always know that if snapchat was founded by a 21 year old then KFC was founded by a 65 year old man. All of us are going to eventually reach the apogee of our lives at different times, all we have to do is uproot our insecurities, persevere and work hard towards our goals. Be reminded of the fact that you and your goals are unique to you and nothing should influence them.
A good read.
